My Story

Hello. I’m Jo-Ann and this is JD Expressive ArtStudio, LLC.

Art is in my soul. From a young age, I was drawn to colors, textures, movement, music - creating was how I felt alive. Art wasn't just a hobby, it was a lifeline threaded through my childhood, offering me a safe, expressive space long before I had the words to explain what I felt. I've never considered anything else.

Life, however, tested me deeply. When my oldest brother passed away, the grief was unspeakable. Not long after, my marriage ended in divorce. I was left to raise two beautiful, impressionable daughters while navigating the crashing waves of stress, anxiety, and overwhelming sadness. I needed a way to heal.

I returned to my roots. I returned to creating. In those moments of painting, drawing, moving and expressing, I found pieces of myself that I thought I'd lost. I rediscovered clarity and most importantly, peace. I also realized that I wasn't alone. So many people carry unspoken pain, untold stories, bottled-up emotion. I felt called to share what helped me.

As my path unfolded, JD Expressive ArtStudio was born.

~A sacred space where art, healing, and soul connection meet.

~A place where I now guide others through workshops that blend Expressive Arts, Reiki, and Sound Healing - integrative experiences designed to support emotional release, self-discovery, and holistic wellness.

This isn't just what I do - it's absolutely who I am. And it is my honor to walk alongside others on their healing journey.

Sometimes the most beautiful creations come from the most broken places.
